Stress

Yesterday evening I found myself walking home from Ouchy, where I had been eating dinner with a couple of friends. Label Suisse, the festival celebrating the opening of the second metro line in Lausanne was still going on, so instead of going directly home I figured I might as well take some photos, considering I was carrying around on my camera anyways.

So I went to Riponne to see if anything was going on there, to find the place absolutely packed with people, not just on the place itself but hanging from buildings and side roads. Stress, the biggest rap group in Switzerland was playing, and people were going absolutely nuts.

I couldn’t pass by this excellent opportunity to shoot a couple of pictures, so I decided to dive in to the crowd, spending the next 15 minutes stepping on peoples toes, trying to get up front. If I hadn’t met some very determined girls I would never had gotten any close, but by keeping right on their tail as they were moving forward I managed to stand around 10 meters from the band performing.

I love rap concerts. The rhythm and energy makes it impossible to stand still, and even though I wanted to get some good shots, I couldn’t help but dance along. Awesome concert.

Here is a photo anyway. There are more here.

Way cool

Door

Door

This is a door not too far from Place Chauderon in Lausanne. It’s so wonderful to have a camera at hand again. It’s been 8 months since I lost my trusted panasonic super zoom camera, so a couple of weeks ago I finally decided to go out and get me a real camera. A camera store around the corner had an offer for an old Nikon D70 for about €180, which is ridiciulsly cheap for a camera like this. It’s in pristine condition, and with it I bought a nice 50mm 1.8 Nikon lense that I have been playing around with.

Rust

Some of the lesser know beauties of Paris is definitely the rusty drain-pipes hiding in the back-streets. Here are a couple I caught on film from my last visit.

Post-it

As I was walking the streets in Paris, a window suddenly caught my attention. At first sight it looked like somebody was playing a bizarre kind of square tetris, but I soon realized that it was in fact post-it notes, and took this picture:

Colors in Paris

Here are three different photos, all of colors I found throughout Paris.

Painting
Well, it’s actually a statue, which explains the green hue of the base

Waterline
From the bank of La Seine, the red is rust from an iron ring above the photo

Purple
Some old graffiti not really cleaned

Train

This is a series of photos I took of some flower while a train was driving by in the backround. I find the serie interesting because the colors of the unfocused trainwagons gives the pictures an unatural glow.

Mailbox

As the title so clearly instructs, this is actually a part of a mailbox. The yellow thing is probably meant to have a name on it, but the one I found didn’t, and good the same.

Photos and an update

The activity has been a little low the last week or two, because I have been skiing in the Alps and visiting Paris. As anyone could guess, this means lots of new photos. So many in fact, that I don’t really know what to do with them. But I think I’ll just post a photo a day untill I get tired of it. Or maybe I’ll post more than one photo, if they belong together, but I might just as well post less than one, so this is no plegde to regular updates.

Encore de houseboats!

I don’t know why, but I usualy post my photos in pairs of three. We can’t have this kind of stability hanging around, so to break the rule, here’s a real pair of two photos both from the same houseboat.

The contrast was a little too much for my camera, hence the the read line, but besides that I can inform that it’s the steeringwheel of the boat. I think there’s actually a word for that, but right now I’m completely blank

Window
This is some painted windows I found interesting. They were all painted white, most probably because everybody walking on the shore could glance right in, if not.
