Mountains around Petra

Around the Middle East

The area around Petra varies between smooth dry hills planted with olive-trees, dark granite mountains and strangely shaped sandstone mountains, the same type the iconic buildings in Petra where originally carved out of. These photos are from a hike between Little Petra (photos 1-4) over various smaller mountains (photos 5-9) to Petra itself. (photos 9-15).
