Imata

Images from Peru

After spending three days relaxing in Arequipa where I had met up with Steven, I was set on seeing something out of the beaten track, and convinced Steven to take a stop half way in between Arequipa and Puno in a small town I had spotted on a map, called Imata. Situated in 4500 meters altitude, this collection of low dirt houses serves mostly as a pit stop for truck drivers crossing the Altiplano. All the photos are from the evening of our arrival, where we went for a small walk.

The city of Imata, collected around the road and railway leading from Arequipa towards Puno and Cusco.
A bit of water against the evening light.
The squares in the background are folds for a llama farm
Light in mountains
In the background the llamas are returning to the fold.
Vast plains like this one stretches over most of southern Peru.
The evening sky
And more evening sky.
