The Mountains by Nuweiba

Around the Middle East

Despite the hotel owners persistent assurances that it isn't possible to climb the mountains without hiring a guide and a camel, I set out one morning for a walk in the yellow-grey coastal mountains near Nuweiba. There isn't much up there, truth to be told, but as the sun settles the orange hues of seemingly never ending mountain tops is a magnificent sight.

The view out over the Red Sea from the top of a dusty peak. Nuweiba is right below me.
Looking south-west. Could have been any inland direction though.
Layers of sediment in the sandstone rocks.
Lines in sandstone.
The afternoon sunshine illuminating my path back home.
A short glimpse backwards before I descend down to the water.
The next morning I woke up early to catch a ferry that I never took, but before leaving I took a picture from outside my room.
